The History of Hotel Fear

The Feoray family emigrated from Europe where they owned and operated an inn. When Jonathon Feoray came to the states as a young man, he brought with him the knowledge and experience of the family business. He worked at several hotels and inns as he traveled across the country.

Stopping here by chance he met a young woman, Margaret Warren. Deciding to end his wandering, Jonathon took odd jobs and began courting Miss Warren. They were married and started a small boarding house. The Meadview Health Sanctuary called the “Kellogg Sanitarium of the West”, was gaining popularity. Many people made the trip to bring or pick up loved ones from the Sanctuary. Sensing an opportunity, Jonathon borrowed money against their home and started a small hotel.

As the Sanctuary grew so did Hotel Feoray. Additions were made to the hotel as well as their family. Jonathon and Margaret had 2 sons, Rudolph and Edwin. Margaret died during Edwin’s birth. The boys worked the family business and despite the family tragedy the hotel prospered. Rudolph decided to leave the business and traveled north to Canada. Edwin married Charlotte Ballard, and they had a son Victor. The Hotel flourished as the family became one of the most influential in the area. Tragedy again struck and Victor died in a freak accident. Edwin buried himself in the total operation of the hotel.

Surprisingly, later in life Edwin and Charlotte had another son, Mortimer. They cherished him and watched over him every minute fearing they may lose him as they had Victor. Mortimer grew up knowing no limits. What Mortimer wanted… Mortimer got. Grandfather Jonathan disagreed with how Edwin and Charlotte were raising their child. Mortimer was forever getting in one skirmish or another, each time Edwin bought him out of trouble.

Mortimer’s life and the hotel itself took another turn for the worse. His parents and Grandfather all mysteriously disappeared. Mortimer was the only suspect, but nothing could be proven. He was now the heir to Hotel Feoray, but it was not what he wanted. He fell into a serious depression.

A close friend of the family, Dr. Adrian Vander, operated the Meadview Asylum for the Criminally Insane. Dr. Vander arranged for Mortimer to be admitted. He personally oversaw Mortimer’s treatment. Dr. Vander’s therapies were controversial and unorthodox. After months of treatments Dr. Vander gave Mortimer a clean bill of health and he returned to life at the hotel.

What really happened, we may never know. During some sort of episode, Mortimer went berserk and killed everyone in the Hotel! He killed everyone but Adrianna who was in room 13. There was speculation that one of Dr. Vander’s therapies placed a phobia of the number 13 in Mortimer’s physic. An attending physician speculated that Mortimer was afraid of Adrianna because of the similarity to Dr. Vander’s name…Adrian.

Mortimer was again institutionalized at the Meadview Asylum for the Criminally Insane. But there were problems at Meadview. Accusations led to investigations about Dr. Vander and his methods. Dr. Vander disappeared as Meadview fell into decline and decay. Somehow Mortimer slipped through the cracks. Was he cured or was he insane? Is he still at Meadview or was that him seen lurking in the shadows of the Hotel? And what of the tormented souls that were murdered that night? Will they ever be free or will they roam the hotel forever… no longer Hotel Feoray…now Hotel Fear!!
